drugs: risk evaluation and mitigation strategies (REMS)

The Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 gave FDA the authority to require a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) from manufacturers to ensure that the benefits of a drug or biological product outweigh its risks.

I genuinely try to bring a very complicated topic down to a level understandable by lay persons, such as patients, perhaps care givers, and others. Yes. sometimes, I feel pretty lonely for the fact that there seems to exist limited interest in the very essence of why some patients profit from given therapies and others actually die from the same therapy. Sometimes, I do not understand.
