Smartphones in der Überwachung vitaler Parameter: Die FDA genehmigt den ersten vollständig mobilen kontinuierlichen Glukose-Monitor

August 2015 – Die amerikanischen Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hat gemäss einer entsprechenden Firmenmitteilung das erste vollständig mobile kontinuierliche Glukose-monitoring System zugelassen. Das CGM System, sendet Daten direkt an ein Smartphone und erfordert keinen separaten Empfänger mehr.

Das Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM-System wurde für Erwachsene und Kinder im Alter ab 2 Jahren zugelassen. Der mit Bluetooth-Funktechnologie integrieret Gerät sendet in Echtzeit Glukose-Informationen direkt an eine App auf iOS-fähigen Geräten wie IPhone dexcomdas iPhone.  Androide-Anwendungen werden entsprechend der Firma Anfang nächsten Jahres erwartet. Wie mit seinem Vorgängermodell, dem G4 System, ermöglicht  das G5-Gerät bis zu fünf “Abonnenten”, wie z.B. Eltern oder andere Bezugspersonen, um “remote” den Blutzuckerspiegel eines Patienten, z.B. eines Kindes das gerade in der Schule ist, zu überwachen und gegebenenfalls mittels  Benachrichtigungen bei Abweichungen entsprechende Anweisungen und Massnahmen zu kommuniziern.

Ähnlich wie bei anderen CGM-Systemen bietet das G5-System Trendinformationen zum Glukosespiegel und gibt bei Problemen entsprechende Warnungen aus. Für die Bestimmung der therapeutischen Insulindosen sind und für die System-Kalibrierung sind Fingerstick Blut-Glukose-Test weiterhin erforderlich. Dexcom soll mit dem Versenden des G5-Systems im späten September 2015 beginnen. Personen, die nach dem 1. August 2015  das G4-System gekauft haben, können kostenlos upgraden.
