Arzneimittel im Trinkwasser und der Umwelt

denken würde.

Eine Mitteilung des Deutschen Bundesamtes für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte (BfArM) von heute erinnert wieder einmal an ein solches Szenario. Danach kann Rohwasser, welches zur Trinkwasseraufbereitung verwendet wird, in geringen Konzentrationen unter anderem auch mit Wirkstoffen aus Arzneimitteln belastet sein. Das Bundesministerium für Gesundheit (BMG) hat daher das Umweltbundesamt (UBA) und das BfArM beauftragt, Handlungsmöglichkeiten zur Minimierung des Eintrages von Human-Arzneimitteln in Oberflächen- und Grundwässer zu erarbeiten, um diese Ressource für die Rohwassergewinnung zur Trinkwasseraufbereitung besser zu schützen. Der hierzu vorliegende Bericht fasst die identifizierten Möglichkeiten und die Vorschläge zur Umsetzung dieser Handlungsoptionen auf nationaler Ebene zusammen. Ferner enthält er eine Bewertung des von der Europäischen Kommission vorgelegten Konzepts zur Minimierung des Eintrages von Arzneimitteln in die Umwelt.

Dieser Bericht, welcher unter anderem im Hinblick auf nationale Konsequenzen für Humanarzneimittel sowie eine Priorisierung der Handlungsmöglichkeiten erarbeitet wurde, steht hier zur Einsicht bereit:

Natürlich werden Konzentrationen von Arzneimittel-Rückständen in Trinkwässern sehr gering sein, und kaum jemals eine akute pharmakologische Wirkung hervorrufen, ausser vielleicht bei Individuen mit ganz speziellen und ultrasensitiven Voraussetzungen (und ja, das könnte, muss aber nicht, auch am genetischen Outfit eines Individuums liegen). Die Problematik liegt wohl eher in der chronischen Präsenz solcher Verbindungen in der Umwelt, und eben auch in Trinkwässern.
